One dark and tempestuous night  I was lying on my bed, reading a book. Moments later I could hear sounds coming from the corner of my room. “scratch…. scratch…. scratch…...”

I could hear the sound of a scratching noise. I was scared, I looked around my room and saw a human like figure on top of my ceiling. I was frightened. I then curled up into a ball and pulled my blanket over to cover my face. I peeked over to see if it was still there. I couldn't see anything. I heard the same sound but louder. Then there it was, just standing right next to my bed staring directly at me.

I quickly ran out of my room to see where my parents were,  but my parent weren’t in the house. Then I could feel the presence of someone behind me.

“I found you” said the shadow. Then it grabbed me by the shoulder and pulled me to the ground.

Then suddenly I woke up in my bedroom. it was all just a scary dream.

It was a really scary experience for a dream

I recommend this story for ages 10-100.

Today on the 26th of September, The police force came with a Police dog.

We learnt a lot of interesting facts about what it takes to train a police dog. Collins (The dog handler) told us that the police force breads there own dogs. The Dogs fly on a air plane from Wellington all the way to Auckland. Then they get trained for 1 year. So there ready to be a Police Dog.

Then Collins showed us different tricks with the dog. But my favourite trick was when Grant
(Dog handler) Put on a sleeve and then ran and the dog chased him and took a big bite on his arm.

Kase was 39 Kg and he could run 65 km/hour he was really funny and a smart dog. I really enjoyed the police dog coming and i wont forget this amazing experience.

Today in Room 8 we were given each a small pack of M&Ms we were learning to find fractions of a number of a set

This is a 1/5 of 15 M&M's, which is 3.

This is a 1/8 of 16 which is 2.

In this picture there was 15 altogether. 3/15 or 1/5 were red 2/15 were orange 5/15 or 1/3 were blue 4/15 were green and 1/15 are yellow.

Grease by Auckland Girls Grammar School

On Tuesday Glenbrae school and other schools around Auckland was invited to Auckland girls grammar for a play. Grease is a musical play. There was two groups of cool kids one was the T-Birds and the other was the pink ladies. The main characters where Danny and Sandy.

My favourite part of the musical was when they showed the crowd Grease lighting and started singing the main song grease lighting. I liked the play because it was multicultural and it was really fun to watch. Id recommend you to watch the play because I'm sure there will be a lot of people that will enjoy the musical.

I would give the play 5 stars!

How to make Takakau

Takakau is a Maori bread

Takakau was made in the 1800’s. The bread was

traditionally made with just flour and water.

To make Takakau you will need:

1 Teaspoon salt

2 cups flour  

2 Teaspoon baking powder

100 ml milk or water

• First you sift the flour and baking powder into a large bowl

• Then You put 1 teaspoon of salt into your bowl.

• 
• Then mix your bowl of ingredients.

• 
• then you will need to mix your bowl while someone else will be pouring milk or water into the centre of your bowl slowly.

• Then you will need to get out a tray with tin foil on top and sprinkle your flour on top of your tray.

• Then you will need to pound on your mixture.
• Then you will need to pour your mixture on top of your tray. Then you will need to shape the dough but you will need the dough to be 2cm thick.
• Then you turn on your oven to 200 celsius and put your dough in the oven for 30 mins

Today in Science Intensive We learnt about Insulation. We learnt that Insulation Is in the Walls, The Roof and The Floor We also saw that if you don't have Insulation you can install it yourself. We watched a video showing us how to install insulation yourself. The materials You need are 

Crafting Knife, Rubber Gloves, Rubber Boots, Measuring Tape, A long Ruler and a Face Mask.

 We also learnt that if you dont have any insulation in your house you can get sick witch is bad for your health.

Science Intensive

Today in science intensive we learnt about Solid, Liquid and Gases or the three states of matter.
We were looking at the different Molecules. We saw that molecules in a solid stay in
the same place and vibrates but just stays in the same place and the same shape.

Today in room 8 we were learning about decimals/Fractions ms stone used a piece of cake that was 18 centimetres. Ms Stone first cut the cake into ten equal pieces. Then she cut one slice. Each slice was 1 tenth of the whole cake or 0.1. at the end of the lesson ms gave us all and equation so we can earn our cake.

The Siberian Husky is believed to have originated among the Chukchi, a tribe of Siberian nomads.

• A husky should stay in a cage for a while and take it out for a walk. A husky should stay warm so it can function and have a lot of energy. You need to give a husky a shower once a day.

Does it need to be taken on walks/ toys to play with? Does it like hiding in tunnels?

• A husky needs to go on a walk once a day because dogs have a lot of energy.
• A husky can have a dog toy.

Health

Do they need lots of grooming? Do they get sick a lot? Do they need potty training or bathing?

• Huskies do need be groomed once a day so they don't shed in your house
• Huskies get sick sometimes if they are allergic to things.
• Huskies need potty training because they are big dogs

Socialising

Does your pet like to live alone or with other animals? Does it get along with humans well? Does it get along with other animals?

• A husky would like to have another dog in the house so they are not lonely
• Huskies can get along with humans if they are trained properly and if they are not abused.

Conclusion - what are some main things to think about if you want to buy this pet. You might want to add in about vet bills here as well.

What our school has been learning about.

Our school Glenbrae School was learning about air pollution, water pollution and earth pollution this term. This week we have inquiry in the hall. All classes were assigned to learn about global warming.

Today mrs stone and the year 6 prepared some burritos for us. Mrs stone all gave us one burrito each and some of us had two. Inside the burrito was chicken, avocado, salsa, bake beans, cheese, coleslaw, cherry tomatoes and lettuce.

In the morning 5 October 2011 a ship called Rena was crossing the ocean from Napier, New Zealand to Tauranga something happened it was an oil spill the boat sank it was under the water for 3 weeks.  

What happened next?

During the accident around Tauranga Bay. (Rena the Ship) Bow Crashed a the reef and all the oil spill out everywhere around the ship. Lots of Local people were left with lots of questions, (Would toxins in the oil affect marine life?). Scientists research the impacts on marine life to help local people find their answer.

What did the research team find ?

The scientist collected data thousands of samples  Of kaimoana.  There was a lot of Plankton and algae in the ocean going into the sea food. Scientists monitored the ocean to see if mussels were alright for humans to eat it.

Because the mussels are infected.
