anzac hero

Today Thursday 23 April 2015 Mrs Raj read a book named Jim's letters
written by Glyn Harper and illustrated by Jenny Cooper. The story was about a
young man named Jim who fought in world war one. He had a brother named Tom
Tom and Jim always sent letters to each other and let each other know what was happening in their lives. The last letter that Tom wrote to Jim did not reach him as he had died in the war. The family
was devastated. Jim was a brave ANZAC soldier.

Malama Honua Welcoming

WALT:recount the Malama honua welcoming.

On the 25th of March 2015 the Manaiakalani schools
walked to Pt England beach in Glen Innes.

There was 2000 students at the beach when we got there
we waited for the wakas to arrive at the beach so the schools can sing the maori songs that the schools learnt.

After the schools finished singing the song the distinguished guest sang a song of their own then the schools went one by one and gave the distinguished guest a hi five.

And then when we  got back to school I felt really exhausted and everyone else was too.
